Colocation Space Pricing
Our colocation services are priced in such a manner that you only purchase the exact amount of service you need.  This results in cost savings to you since there is no wasted data transfer or space for which you might otherwise be billed if purchasing a "package" colocation plan.  Your total price will be the colocation space price plus the data transfer or bandwidth price.  You must select one data transfer or bandwidth billing option.

Think our prices are high? Please don't forget to consider that we include a 10/100Mbit switched network port (gigabit available where required), heating, cooling, remote controllable power outlet, and up to 5 amps of 120V AC electrical service. This is provided for each and every piece of equipment you place in the colocation space you lease. Many competing colocation providers charge extra fees for those types of items as you fill the space you've leased. Some competing colocation providers sell you a port speed into their network, but lack planning and foresight to be able to deliver what they are selling.  The result is that a colocation company selling you an unmetered 100Mbit port with colocation may only be able to deliver just a couple of Mbits/sec. We deliver exactly what we sell - nothing less. Compare these prices to the cost of building, maintaining, and staffing your own datacenter and you'll find these prices are a real bargain.

For help in determining your space and bandwidth needs, please see the discussion on the colocation overview page.  You are also welcome to email sales@advantagecom.net or give us a call.

Bandwidth and Data Transfer Pricing
Note that the term "bandwidth" is not the same as "data transfer".  Bandwidth would be analogous to the number of lanes on a freeway and data transfer would be analogous to the total number of cars entering the freeway between two dates. For colocation services, it is assumed that we are talking about data transfer or bandwidth to and from the Internet.

There are two methods that we can use to bill for your data transfer or bandwidth.  Your choice will depend upon your needs regarding budget, billing predictability, performance, and scalability. Each method includes access to graphs to help you manage your bandwidth and data transfer costs. The methods are outlined below:

  • Usage based data transfer billing - you will be billed each month for the total number of gigabytes of data transfer used during the previous month.  This is preferred if you need to start with a small budget, don't mind a variable bill, and don't know in advance how much bandwidth you need. This tends to be the most expensive option for high volume usage, but allows for you to start with a very small monthly minimum.
  • Fixed data rate billing - you will be billed each month in advance for a fixed maximum amount of bandwidth. You pay a fixed amount of money each month. You can use up to the amount of bandwidth you've purchased, but never more than that. This method of bandwidth billing is preferred if you anticipate relatively steady bandwidth usage for services like voice-over-IP (VOIP) or media streaming, prefer to pay a fixed amount each month, and have a general idea of how much bandwidth you need.

The table below lists each type of bandwidth or data transfer billing method and the pricing tiers within each method. The bandwidth and data transfer pricing shown below is only applicable to colocation services.

Prices are subject to change.  High volume bandwidth or data transfer may have negotiable pricing depending on market conditions at the time. Monthly fee
a simple contract and credit check may be required for services with monthly fees of $500 or more

1GB to 50GB per month $1.50/GB per month $50 one time at beginning of service

101GB to 300GB per month $1.25/GB per month $50 one time at beginning of service
301GB to 500GB per month $1.00/GB per month $50 one time at beginning of service
Fixed data rate billing
